Activities of Association

 

The Engineering Industries Association of Lithuania LINPRA, (before 1 January 2006 known as the Lithuanian Machinery and Equipment Industries Association) is an independent self-governing business association. Both nationally and internationally, it represents the interests of the Lithuanian mechanical, electrical, electronic and metalworking industrial sector and seeks to promote its business competitiveness.

The sector of the engineering industries is the biggest sector of the manufacturing industries, amounting to 20 % share of their Gross Value Added (GVA) in 2007. About half of the sector's GVA is generated by the members of the LINPRA association. 

 

Established: in 1993
Number of members: 80 (including almost all major companies of the sector)
Membership: The Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists; European Engineering Industries Association ORGALIME; Council of European Employers for the Metal, Engineering and Technology based industries CEEMET.


Together with its partners, LINPRA responds to the needs of the companies operating in the sector and their potential counterparts by providing the following services:

•·             providing on-line information from the most comprehensive sectorial database in Lithuania;

•·             publishing yearly catalogue of the Lithuanian engineering industries;

•·             searching for Lithuanian partners and suppliers according to incoming investment, outsourcing and other business proposals;

•·             searching for foreign partners required by Lithuanian companies operating in the sector;

•·             organising incoming and outgoing missions, consultations, exhibitions and matchmaking events;

•·             coordinating the National Technology Platform ManuFuture-LT;

•·             training of managers and employees in technological and managerial competences

•·             initiating and implementing other types of projects aimed to strengthen competitiveness and business internationalisation of Lithuanian engineering industries sector.

 

Technology Centre InTechCentras

 

Non-profit public entity InTechCentras was established by the Engineering Industries Association of Lithuania LINPRA in 2007, with the mission to support enhancement of productivity, competitiveness and business internationalization of the Lithuanian engineering industries sector by fostering innovations in the critical fields of development of high value added products as well as competence development of HR and modernization of production and business management processes.

 

With this aim, InTechCentras is open and flexible in finding its ways for the most effective cooperation with the sector companies and their foreign partners in the following areas:

•·        provision of technological information and consultancy,

•·        networking by pooling common-access technological, intellectual and financial resources, both nationally and internationally, as well as promotion of their effective use,

•·        competence development of HR,

•·        assistance to companies in project preparation and implementation.

 

While establishing and developing InTechCentras, LINPRA is in close co-operation with its partners - the Kaunas University of Technology, Technology Centre LECAD at the Ljubljana University and TECOS - Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre.
