Business trends in the statistical analysis, also called business opinion survey, is a survey of business leaders. This statistical analysis is based on the same business leaders opinion of the occurrence, the current and future changes in their economic activities. The survey is designed for short-term economic analysis and forecasting. It is often used in forecasting business cycle turning points. Since the statistical results can be obtained quickly and that they contain statistical information on economic agents' expectations, these results are very valuable and important in predicting for the respondents themselves, public authorities, researchers, and makers of economic decisions at national and European Union (EU) level.
Industrial confidence indicator is a measure based on a survey among industrial executives. The figure is calculated as the arithmetic mean of product demand, production expectations and buildup of inventories with the opposite sign. Higher levels of industrial confidence indicate a positive outlook for future business spending and capital investment.
Balance is the figure determined by the difference between positive and negative answers. A headline above zero indicates positive industrial confidence, while a negative number shows negative confidence.
